Revelation from the Peanuts Movie?

My family and I was invited to watch The Peanuts Movie,

I was so excited, because I LOVE CHARLIE BROWN! Well the old school Charlie, but I was curious to see what they came up with for the movie (and it was a free event) so what the hey! Anyway the movie was good overall, the kids loved it. There is a scene at the end of the movie that made me so emotional, I was  not expecting to feel like this at all, but let me explain:

So we all know that Charlie Brown has his struggles, and he likes this little red headed girl…so at the end of the movie she chooses him to be a pen pal over the summer, but Charlie Brown is baffled, and can’t understand why she would choose him of all people. So he catches her before she goes off to summer camp, and this is how the conversation goes:

Charlie Brown: “Why out of all the kids in the class, would you want to be partners with me?”

Little Red Head Girl: “That’s easy, because I see the type of person you are.”

Charlie Brown: “An insecure, wishy-washy, failure?”

Little Red Head Girl: “That’s not who you are at all, I like the compassion you showed for your sister at the talent show, the honesty you had at the assembly, and at the dance, you were brave and funny, and what you did for me doing the book report while I was away it was so sweet of you.

“So when I look at you I don’t see a failure at all, you have all the qualities that I admire.

Just taking a look at this scene in the movie made me SO EMOTIONAL! I feel like it was GOD talking to me. I even looked around and was teary eyed, because I just knew everyone else felt what I felt, and heard what I heard. It was so obvious to me, but when I asked my sister “did you see that? did you see that is what GOD says about us! That is how He feels about us!!!” Of course she looked at me like I was crazy, and did not know what I was talking about, but it’s all good!!! You probably don’t see what I am talking about either…let me explain.

So Charlie Brown obviously thinks low of himself, but please don’t judge poor Charlie, I know for a fact that all of us feels this way from time to time. Some of us more than others, but it happens. I think back to days that I feel like this, and it made me realize that this is how GOD SEES US IN OUR DARKEST MOMENTS. Even when we make mistakes and can be quite hard on ourselves, and when you are hard on yourself, I believe that it gives the enemy a chance to dig in and have a pity party with you! Once that starts then sometimes it is hard to come out of that.

But lets take a moment to look and see what why and how I can compare this scene to how GOD sees us.

First Charlie Brown asks the girl “Why out of everyone in class did you pick me to be partners with?

I believe that GOD has chosen me to live out a purpose that HE has for my life. But sometimes it can become overwhelming and seems out of touch with my own capabilities, so it can be quite discouraging at times when you are trying to do something, and you do not see how it will happen, (but you know GOD is in it, so you can’t let it go)

I compare it to me asking GOD during tough times “why out of everyone, did you choose me? Like what was so special about me? Why did you choose me to LOVE even though I do not deserve it?”

Then the girls says “that’s easy, because of the type of person that you are”

I think of GOD answering like “it’s obvious, because you are you! You are fearfully and wonderfully made, I knew you before you were in your mother’s womb”

Then Charlie Brown says “who an insecure, wishy-washy, failure?”

I see it as us answering to the insecure, and damaging feelings of how we may feel about ourselves at the moment (fat, ugly, stupid, lazy, inadequate…that is just to name a few of some words that haunt us at times)

“That’s not who you are at all” She replies and she goes into examples of certain characteristics that he has, and how he displayed them. And then she goes on to say that those were the qualities that she seen in him, and wished that she had.

I imagine GOD letting us know that we are not those things, HE reminds us that we are NOT (fat, lonely, stupid), that HE MADE US IN HIS IMAGE! And GOD is love, so therefore we NEED to love ourselves!!!

So there it is!! It might be a little corny for some, but if it’s at least for a little picker upper, I hope that it put a smile on your face.

I just wanted to share that with you guys! I hope that you were inspired a bit by this post.
